Oh, how I love the rain and thunderstorms; in fact, I’m writing this post from my cozy office with the door open so I can hear the pitter-patter of rain. I grew up in Ft. Worth, Texas, where rainstorms are next-level. I remember days when I could feel the house shake, a bit scary… hmm, kind of, but something about the sound was exciting. There was a calming rhythmic pattern, the air smelled clean, the skies were gray, and the trees and flowers were so grateful. There is an overall feeling of stillness and slowing chatter in my mind. And now, spring is on its way! Not only do I embrace storms, but for whatever reason, I become hyper-focused. In Los Angeles, we don’t see a lot of rain, and although we do experience other challenging weather situations, you won’t find too many thunderstorms in sunny California. Luckily, I live vicariously through my son’s thunderstorm videos and phone calls while he’s at college in Dallas.
Rain isn’t just weather to me; it's the perfect excuse for a wardrobe upgrade. Let’s dive into the art of dressing for drizzle in style.

On the roof in the rain - My gray sweater is vintage Polo (men’s) Elaine Kim Pants. I’ve worn her tech stretch pants for years, and you can’t beat them for comfort and travel! The jacket I’m wearing was from ZARA six years ago. I always keep what I love; like Marie Kondo says, “Spark joy, or no spark joy.”

Non-Stop Drizzle on Rainy Day Cafe - Henry Mancini - Jazz is my ultimate soundtrack. It's soulful, unpredictable, and always in style. What are your go-to tunes?

A trench coat is a must-have wardrobe staple; it’s timeless and versatile and instantly elevates any outfit. Draped over your casual tee or top, you’ve created a look that is practical as well as stylish. The blue trench just came out!

A classic trench coat delivers a dose of casual cool for your everyday outfits. Below is the world-famous trench coat designed by Thomas Burberry - an investment piece for sure, never going out of style.
The trench I’m wearing and these Mid Chelsea Boots are on season three. Crafted from a recycled leather blend, they feature a mid-calf shaft, signature chunky cleated soles, elastic side panels, and pull tabs for easy slip-on. Trench (on me) / Boots / Burberry Trench / Jeans.
This trench, these shoes, and my new girl-crush earrings are on repeat lately. I find a “uniform” and wear it out! Do you do that?? My history with trench coats has always been rooted in the classic tan color. But this season, thanks to Benaar, I’ve added a black trench to my collection, which deserves applause! I will say the blue one above makes me cry… in the best way. On Instagram
Trench / Red Boots / Umbrella / Boots. (love those red boots)
We had a nice rainstorm here in Los Angeles a few weeks ago. My photographer called and asked, “Do you feel like playing in the rain?” I said, “Let’s do it!” We shot this and the pink photos on the famous Sunset Strip. It was so much fun—thanks, Kelly Gullet. By the end of the shoot, even an umbrella couldn’t save the day. But I didn’t care because nothing and no one rains on my parade, ala Barbra Streisand. Stay safe, have fun with your fashion, and be creative in your closet. Leopard Umbrella.
